What is breast cancer?

A disease where cells in the breast grow out of control.

Facts

  • Breast cancer can affect both men and women.
  • For women there is a 1 in 8 chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Breast feeding reduces the risk of developing breast cancer.

Symptoms of Breast Cancer

  • A lump or thickened breast tissue
  • Change in shape and or size of breast
  • Nipple discharge that is not milk
  • Inverted (inward pointing) nipples
  • Change in appearance such as dimpling of breast skin
  • Rash on or around the nipple
  • Change in texture or color of the nipple area or breast

Be Observant

Observing your breasts regularly can help in early detection and prevent cancer from spreading.
